1950 US Census: I have yet to find this record.
At some point Mathilda and Fred move to Clinton, IA. I don’t currently have any documents, but the 1940 Census shows his brother Elmer and sister-in-law in Clinton and I assume they migrated together.
Fred dies in 1963 aged 78. Mathilda dies in 1982 aged 83.
Fred’s cause of death appears to be a sudden acute hemorrhage of a gastric ulcer.
