Clemens is Ferdinand and Henrietta’s third child and first son.

1900 US Census: Clemens [7] is living with Ferdinand and Henrietta and attending school.

1900 US Census: Clemens [17] is living with Ferdinand and Henrietta and working as a laborer on the home farm.

A 1918 Farmers Directory records Clemens and his wife Josephine living on and farming the 180 acres owned by Ferdinand.

1920 US Census: Clemens [27] and Josephine [20] are living/farming in Crete, Nebraska. Ivan Clemens is born in 1922 and Bernice Claire in 1927, but she dies in 1929 a month before turning two.

1930 US Census: Clemens [37] and Josephine [30] are living/farming in Crete, Nebraska with Ivan Clemens [7].

1940 US Census: Clemens [47] and Josephine [40] are living/farming in Crete, Nebraska with Ivan Clemens [17].

The 1950 US Census: Clemens [57] and Josephine [50] are living in Fonda, IA. Clemens is a school custodian and does church work while Josephine is a telephone operator.

Clemens dies in 1975 at age 82 in Fonda, IA. Josephine dies in 1986 in Ohio

My Father recalls that Clemens and Josie had a livestock vet business at one point, but it wasn’t all that profitable due to the size of the community and animals. I don’t know if this occurred in Nebraska or Iowa.
