Joseph Henry Bals & Martha Leora Ronspies

Joseph is Ferdinand and Henrietta’s fourth child and second son.

1900 US Census: Joseph [5] is living with Ferdinand and Henrietta and attending school.

1910 US Census: Joseph [15] is living with Ferdinand and Henrietta and working as a laborer on the home farm.

A military records shows he served as a Private in an Ambulance Company for 6 1/2 months in 1918-1919. I’m not sure if that was voluntary enlistment with a medical discharge or if was a draft and he was released post war.

1920 US Census: Joseph [25] is living with Ferdinand and Henrietta and the occupation field is blank.

1930 US Census: Joseph [35] and his wife Martha [29] are living/farming in Pierce, Nebraska.

1940 US Census: Joseph [45] and Martha [39] are living/farming in Pierce, Nebraska.

1950 US Census: Joseph [55] and his Martha [49] are living/farming in Cotterell, Nebraska.

Joseph dies in 1976 aged 81. Martha dies in 1978 aged 76.
